To advance the development of a centralized repository of agricultural and fisheries research information in Caraga, DOST Caraga convened an online coordination meeting with members of the Agriculture and Fisheries Resources, Research and Extension for Development Network (AFRREDN) on June 8, 2026 via Zoom.

The meeting provided an opportunity for participants to exchange insights, address operational concerns, and identify strategies for strengthening the system’s implementation and sustainability.

In his message, Assistant Regional Director for Field Operations Ricardo N. Varela underscored the value of establishing a credible and accessible database that can facilitate information sharing among researchers and other partners in the sector.

The discussion focused on the database’s operational framework, integration with the Project SARAI CeNTRO, data privacy and security provisions, and institutional responsibilities for system administration and maintenance.

Present during the meeting were Department of Agriculture (DA) Caraga OIC Regional Technical Director for Research, Regulation, and ILD Marco Antonio Morido, Research Division Chief Edelmira Luminarias, Supervising Science Research Specialist Florites Rosales, and technical personnel from DA and DOST Caraga.

Through the database system, DOST Caraga and AFRREDN partner institutions aim to improve the organization and accessibility of research-based information, building a stronger regional knowledge network that supports agricultural productivity and sustainable development.
