The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Caraga joined the 1st Semester Meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries Resources, Research, and Extension for Development Network (AFRREDN) on February 4, 2026, at the Grand Palace Hotel, Butuan City.
ARD for Field Operations Mr. Ricardo N. Varela shared DOST Caragaโs support for AFRREDN, highlighting Project SARAI CeNTRO, which provided a server to Father Saturnino Urios University for collecting agricultural data across the region.
The server will serve as a central platform for agriculture data, supporting research, development, and extension among AFRREDN members. Mr. Varela also noted opportunities for further collaboration in managing and improving the database.
Moreover, the meeting was presided over by Mr. Abel F. Wagas, RTD for Research and Regulations of the Department of Agriculture (DA) Caraga. Discussions included updates on database development, intellectual property concerns, and presentations on ongoing and proposed research and development initiatives.
DOST Caraga expressed its continued commitment to supporting AFRREDNโs plans and activities, recognizing the importance of coordinated research, development, and extension efforts in strengthening the agriculture and fisheries sectors in the region.
