Project SARAI, with the support of the SARAI Caraga team, participated in the 2025 Caraga Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Caraga, held from July 30 to August 1, 2025, at Robinsons in Butuan City.
Anchored on the national theme βSiyensya, Teknolohiya at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na Kinabukasan,β this yearβs celebration focused on the regional theme βBuilding Smart and Sustainable Communities,β highlighting the role of science, technology, and innovation in fostering resilient and future-ready communities across Caraga.
Ms. Maria Regina V. Regalado, Project Technical Officer of SARAI CeNTRO, and Ms. Ma. Ericha M. Amante, University Research Associate from UPLB-SESAM and Consultant for SARAI CeNTRO, shared valuable insights on the projectβs components and engaged with participants through the distribution of IEC materials to raise awareness of SARAIβs initiatives.
One of the featured technologies was the Automatic Weather Station (AWS), which plays a vital role in providing real-time weather data and localized forecasting. This technology strengthens decision support systems for farmers, enables timely weather-based crop advisories, and promotes data-driven farm management practices. These capabilities help reduce crop losses, optimize resource use, and support adaptive responses to climate variability.
Through the development of science-based cropping systems, protocols, and long-term strategies, Project SARAI continues to assist Filipino farmers in increasing productivity while minimizing environmental and climate-related risks.
Its participation in RSTW 2025 affirms the projectβs commitment to bringing science closer to the communities and empowering the agriculture sector through innovation.
